First Aid Training & Certification

Voyageur is also an Authorized Provider of all levels of First Aid Training for the Canadian Red Cross.

Courses offered:

First Aid & CPR training is mandatory for employees in the workplace; but unlike most other types of safety training, these skills and knowledge are also applicable to an individual’s daily life. This is why we teach people First Aid & CPR in easy-to-follow steps, empowering them to act on, prevent, and manage life’s emergencies.

Voyageur offers a wide variety of First Aid and CPR training courses to help workplaces be compliant with both federal and provincial/territorial occupational health and safety legislation – with the scheduling flexibility needed by decision-makers and the user-friendliness needed by course participants.

The courses are taught by certified Red Cross First Aid Instructors who can tailor the course based on class composition and provide guidance during the course to help increase participant’s skill retention.

General First Aid Courses

Workplace Standard First Aid & CPR Course: Comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques for those who need training for work requirements, or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the workplace or home. The course covers a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR Level A, AED, prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth topics, such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine.

Workplace Emergency First Aid & CPR Course: Simple First Aid & CPR techniques taught in an interactive environment, for individuals who want an overview of First Aid & CPR for the workplace or home. The course covers skills needed to recognize, prevent and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for Adults, CPR Level A, AED, and other topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission.

CPR/AED Training: These courses are designed to provide various levels of CPR training based on the participant’s background, needs and interest. A presentation on how to use an Automated External Defibrillation (and certification) is also provided with the course where legislation permits.First Responder

 

Advanced First Aid

First Responder: Designed to teach first responders advanced first aid techniques: how to sustain life, prevent further injuries, and the consequences of further injury until more advanced medical personnel arrive.

Emergency Medical Responder: This course is designed to meet the National Occupational Competency Profiles for the practitioner level of emergency medical responder (EMR) established by the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC). It provides the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until the next level of health care takes over.

Oxygen Administration: This course covers how to operate oxygen devices and handle breathing devices. Participants also learn how to respond and treat respiratory emergencies

 

Speciality First Aid Courses

Wilderness & Remote First Aid: Our basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas as well as offers strategies to provide extended care for up to 24 hours.  Course is for those who recreate, live, work or in insolated or wilderness settings and need to response to emergencies when advanced care is not immediately available.

Advanced Wilderness & Remote First Aid: Course offers comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques for those who need a higher level of training to work and respond to emergencies in isolated or wilderness settings. This training is suitable for those who supervise or act as guides for groups of people.  The course covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR plus advanced procedures and strategies to provide extended care for more than 24 hours.

Marine Basic First Aid & CPR: Overview of First Aid & CPR techniques with scenarios taken from the marine/fishing industry for individuals who need a basic training level in First Aid & CPR for the marine industry. The course skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies for Adults, CPR Level A, AED and other topics including choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission.

Standard Child Care First Aid & CPR Course: Comprehensive First Aid & CPR training for individuals who need training for child care or early childhood education work, or who simply want more knowledge to respond to babies’ and children’s injuries and emergencies at home. The course covers a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular emergencies for adults, children, and babies, CPR Level B, AED, choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth ones, such as sudden medical conditions, and injuries to the head and spine.
