The patient must be "medically stable" and likely to remain so during the transfer, AND determine whether or not the patient requires an escort, or is able to travel unescorted.

Voyageur attendants are trained to recognize a medical emergency (First Responder), and hold a valid Advanced First Aid certificate that includes CPR at the Basic Rescuer level. They are trained to lift and move passengers, respect confidentiality, and maintain safe work practices in managing higher-risk patients (e.g., infectious).

Voyageur has a variety of vehicles that accommodate single and double transfer using stretchers or wheelchairs. Vehicles are equipped with Ferno stretchers, fixed and portable oxygen, fixed and portable suction, First Aid kits, fire extinguishers, stair chairs, CPR Board, Backboard, MOHLTC-approved equipment restraints and tie downs, and Code 1 and 2 Trauma Bag.
